Oven baking the bread slices and achieving the crispy, golden texture.
Baking sheet A flat baking sheet to arrange the bread slices in a single layer for even toasting
Sharp Knife or Bread Slicer To slice the bread into thin, even pieces. A serrated knife is ideal for this to prevent squishing the bread.
Pastry Brush or Basting Brush For evenly spreading butter or olive oil on both sides of the bread slices.
- 4 slices of white or whole wheat bread
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter
- A pinch of salt optional
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Slice the bread as thin as possible, about 1/4 inch thick.
Brush both sides of the bread slices with olive oil or melted butter.
Arrange the slices on a baking sheet in a single layer.
Bake for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy.
Allow to cool before serving
- Ensure that the bread slices are thin to achieve that signature crispiness.
- Use butter for a richer flavor, or olive oil for a lighter option.
