Equipment

  • Oven baking the bread slices and achieving the crispy, golden texture.
  • Baking sheet A flat baking sheet to arrange the bread slices in a single layer for even toasting
  • Sharp Knife or Bread Slicer To slice the bread into thin, even pieces. A serrated knife is ideal for this to prevent squishing the bread.
  • Pastry Brush or Basting Brush For evenly spreading butter or olive oil on both sides of the bread slices.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of white or whole wheat bread
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter
  • A pinch of salt optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Slice the bread as thin as possible, about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Brush both sides of the bread slices with olive oil or melted butter.
  • Arrange the slices on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  • Bake for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy.
  • Allow to cool before serving

Notes

  • Ensure that the bread slices are thin to achieve that signature crispiness.
  • Use butter for a richer flavor, or olive oil for a lighter option.
